The power unit was the C100 step-thru’s reliable four-stroke single. An ultra-short wheelbase, small wheels, and a vestigial fuel tank were all features of a machine which, in the case of the folding handlebar version, could be fitted into the boot of car. A 72cc version, the ST70 Dax, with the overhead-cam engine and slightly larger and more practical frame was introduced in 1969, becoming the CT70 for 1971, by which time telescopic front forks had been adopted. As the ‘monkey’ concept evolved, models appeared in all manner of styles, the Trail 70 offered here being the ‘off-road’ version of the CT70 Dax.
